Toolbox and Free Thought

First day of Digital Toolbox

It’s incorporating all types of editing softwares that will be used into one video that is clearly using creative, out of the box skills and ideas. All videos are the same even though they weren’t using the exact adobe software being used today, it is still the basic skills used by professionals todays, proving that anyone can make a video.

Thought Journal 2

In the Simpson, they are talking about how Bart is doing a prank to freak every one out on a cruise boat, and everyone goes into a panic. What is scary about that is that people are panicking right now about Corona Virus and when it will go away.

It will be interesting to see this time go into all the history textbooks for future generations. I will never say again that I am bored because now I really know what bored is.

When things start to reopen, it will be interesting to see what it will be like. Will everyone just go everywhere to get out of their houses? Will people still spend time in their houses? Will the beaches be flooding with people?

One of the more positive aspects about this epidemic is that the pollution in the air has significantly gone down and the water is now clean where we are seeing sea animals coming back to places that were abandoned.

Top 5 favorite songs at the moment

Some of the songs are classics and some of them have just recently been released. I hope you get some good song suggestions out of this while you are sitting at home. Enjoy!

  1. Better by Khalid: This song gives off a mellow and dreamy vibe of a time you can have great memories about like driving around with the sunroof down on a summer day.

2.Radioactive by Imagine Dragons: This song is a super motivational song that you can listen to while you are lifting weights or driving your little brother around.

Thought Journal 1

Hi there. I don’t really know what to post about at this point in quarantine. I wish I could travel and wear cute clothes again. I have been in the same pair of sweatpants for like 5 days now and I hope that I can wear something cute soon. I want to be able to tan at the beach.

You know what I wonder. What are dogs thinking about while all the humans are inside during this time? Are they like “Why isn’t there anyone outside now?” “Why is everyone home now?”

I personally like being home alone by myself sometimes because I need time away from my family. Love them, but I can’t be around them 24/7. My family starts to do things that get on my nerves a lot. I have a lot of pet peeves. That will definitely be a good blog post to do. I will post that next.

My Make up Routine

I have the easiest make up routine ever and now I’m going to share it with you. I use make up products from Kikos and Sephora. Here we go 🙂

First I put a water face moisturizer on to keep skin clear. Then I put on foundation I have from Sephora. Then I use my Laura Mercier setting powder on my face. Then I put my under eye lotion to make the bags under my eyes less dark. Next I use my setting powder to put everything in place. That is also from Laura Mercier.

Next I use my bronzer, from Kikos, right beneath my cheek bones to make then more pronounced. Then, from the same palette, I add some blush on either side of my nose. Then I add highlighter on the cheekbone and up to area right before my forehead starts.

Then I move to the eyes. First I start by coloring in my eyebrows and brushing them with an eye pen I have from Sephora. Then I use eye brow gel to flatten them down so my eye brows don’t move around. Then I move to the eye. I start by putting a neutral white shade of eye shadow all around my eye lid. Then I take a lighter color, like sparkly white or pink, and put it on the inside of my eye lid, then I apply a darker shade of color to the outside of my eye lid and put a little sparkle in the middle. Then I use my black Kikos black eyeliner right above my eyes. Then I go in with my Kikos mascara with my upper and lower eye lashes.

Last but not least, lips…. I go in with my lip marker first to outline the shape of my lips with a darker shade than I will use with my lip stick. The I color in my lips with that same marker. Then I finish with lip stick or lip gloss.

The end 🙂

Media Review

In comparing Metropolis and Amalia Ulman: Excellences and Performance, there were many similarities and differences. Some similarities between the two are that they are both very formal and professional looking. Metropolis is a black and white film about the difference between two classes. Amalia Ulman: Excellences and Performances is formated to be for an exhibition in a museum. She uses props, sets and locations, mixed with photoshop to get her message across.

Some of the differences between the two has to do with the time. In the Amalia Ulman blog, she talks about how she uses social media to help with her plan to script her performance. Obviously, social media influencing is a new concept to society and has just recently been around since 2012. In this article, it says “Critic Brian Droitcour has described the rise of social media as a rebalancing of image-making power: the “aestheticization of everyday life in social media…has leeched the authority of image-making from mass media and from art.” She shares her emotion and passion for this through her words, so her viewers can read everything she is doing. In the Metropolis film, there are no words in the entire movie, just music. The emotion is shown through the movie by moving the tempo and pitch up and down. The story behind this is about a wealthy son of a city master that has to overcome the separation of classes within the city and bring all people together.

Metropolis is definitely more of a gruesome movie than one would think, such as it is exemplified in this clip below. It is more gruesome because it is a movie instead of a blog website. Movies like this can capture emotions much more easily to the viewer than books and blogs can.

The Amalia Ulman exhibition itself, not the blog post on the website, is much more feministic and scandalized. In specifics, “She pretended to have a breast augmentation, posting images of herself in a hospital gown and with a bandaged chest, using a padded bra and Photoshop to manipulate her image.” She wants to try to get across that it is supposed to be a consumerist fantasy lifestyle.

I think that the two are both on the opposite ends of the spectrum and attract vastly different audiences. The Excellence and Performance exhibition is for a younger crowd, mostly women, who are interested in art and expressionism. The Metropolis is mainly for an older generation, maybe the boomer generation, who could have been around during the 1930’s and could watch movies without any words. Not everyone can do that.

Favorite places on Earth

Venice, Italy: Venice Italy is unlike no other place. It seems like it’s a place right out of a fairy tale with the perfect bridges and the sparkling water. Everything builtin Venice is on stilts because they tend to get a lot of flood. Of course, it changed once the canals started flooding like crazy and the coronavirus started going around. This will hurt the economy of Venice considering a majority of the population that is there are tourists. That is how Venice’s economy does well, but we will see now that less tourists are going there.

Thailand: I’ve never been to Thailand, but they seem to be trending as many people want to go visit to see the different type of lifestyle. Thailand is known for their extravagent beaches and the super cute elephants that live there. But, of course, they also have the Coronavirus in Thailand as well, so I don’t think many people will go visit right now.

Amsterdam: I have been to Amsterdam 3 times, and it is one of my favorite places on Earth. The city is not tourist-ey whatsoever, and everyone blends in until they open their mouths, and then you know who is a tourist and who isn’t. The city is known for tulips and the exotic coffee shops. Let’s see if they have any cases of the corona Virus….yup, there are 10 cases.

El Conquistador, Puerto Rico: I have been to El Conquistador twice and I absolutely love the quiet solitude that the private beaches entail. There are barely anyone on the beaches and the water is clear. Hopefully Puerto Rico is not infected with the Corona Virus. Oh, wait they do too! The first case was on Valentines day 😦

Hawaii: Hawaii is one of the most well known vacation places on earth. The cool volcanos and the different colored sand is one of the many reasons why they are so popular. It stinks that it’s so far away from everything though. There are actually no cases of the Coronavirus in Hawaii, so feel free to visit because it’s probably one of the only places on Earth that don’t have the coronavirus right now.

Bora Bora: Bora Bora is a very cool place, not because the name is cool (even though it is pretty cool), but also because it is home to some of the prettiest coral reefs ever. The housing is also pretty cool as it is a hut styled living instead of a normal hotel. Bora Bora also does not have the coronavirus at this time, so you are safe to travel there!

Iceland: Iceland is known for their amazing temperatures. Just kidding, it’s freezing there, hence the name (Ice-Land). You don’t hear much about them, but you do see a lot of pictures on social media of their blue lagoons and northern lights that you won’t be able to see anywhere else.

Barbados: Barbados is such a cool place to visit as they have paradise beaches and very interesting historical sites of Barbados that you can visit. Home of Rihanna, Barbados is such a fun place to visit with the activities and adventures that you can do there including parasailing, hiking, kayaking in caves and looking at the bright houses.

New York City: The big apple is full of things to do at expensive places, and is only an hour and 45 minutes away from the coolest place ever…. Marist College! In NYC you can go to Central Park, eat at some pretty cool restaurants and shop on 5th ave at the most expensive designer brands. However, there has been a few cases of coronavirus, so there are probably going to be a lot of people with masks on, but coronavirus is not stopping New Yorkers from living their daily lives.

Basically the point of this blog post is that the corona virus is spreading pretty much everywhere, so be careful when traveling!
